Centurion City developed from the initial Lyttelton Township that was marked out on the farm Droogegrond in 1904. Lyttelton Manor Extension 1 was established in 1942.  These two townships initially resorted under the Peri Urban Board in Pretoria.  They acquired a Health Committee consisting of six members in 1950 and in 1955 a town committee was elected. City Council status was awarded to the town in 1962  and this council had control over an area of 777 ha.

The thriving city of Centurion lies between Johannesburg and Pretoria - two of the largest cities in Southern Africa.

This young and dynamic city has achieved remarkable growth and development without sacrificing its unique rural character.

Centurion was designed and planned for people to live in. The city offers a total of 40 schools for children of all ages and there are no less than six universities within 25 minutes from the city centre. An abundance of sports and recreational facilities include cricket, rugby, tennis, canoeing, karate, judo and road running. Supersport Park is the home of the Northern Titan's Cricket Team.

The central business district is built around a man-made lake with its well-known musical fountain. Apart from Centurion's ideal geographic location, the city also offers an outstanding transport infrastructure. Three of the country's major highways cut through the municipal area, namely the Johannesburg-Pretoria, Krugersdorp-Pietersburg and Pretoria-Johannesburg Airport highways and it is a mere twenty minutes to the airport.

Ivor Glen Body Corporate is nestled in the quiet and serene suburb of Lyttelton Manor in Centurion City and is 15 minutes drive away from the Nations Capital City, Pretoria.

Ivor Glen consist of 12 highly sought after unit's, adjacent to Botha Ave and only 2 kilometres away from the Ni Highway.

After the elections of 1994 the Verwoerdburg City Council and the Rantesig local area committee were disbanded and a new local authority consisting of Verwoerdburg, Rantesig, Erasmia, Laudium, Christoburgh and Claudius came into being. The name Centurion was accepted in 1995 by the City Council.
